BALALAIKA is Russian folk string plucked instrument of triangular form with 3 strings. Before middle of XVII century it was one of the most popular instruments of Russian wandering minstrels. After decree of tsar Alexey Mihailovich against wandering minstrels BALALIKA vanish from Russian music for a long time. It was revived only in XIX century thanks to activity of wonderful Russian musician and researcher of folk-lore Vasiliy Andreev.
