DOMBRA is a Kazakh string plucked instrument with 2 sinew-made (formerly) or nylon (nowadays) strings. Frets are traditionally sinew-made and they are tied up on the throat of fingerboard. DOMBRA is faithful fellow of folk singers in Kazakhstan and Kirghizstan, that compose songs and tunes called "KUI". In modern Kazakh Folk Orchestra there are dombra piccolo, prima and secondo, alt, tenor, bass double bass.
